Declaration of Srae Ambel District as Mine-Free (10 June 2025)

The Embassy of India participated in the official ceremony marking the declaration of Srae Ambel District, Koh Kong Province, as mine-free. The event was attended by H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice-President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), H.E. Major General Sem Ratana, Acting Director General of NPMEC, H.E. Sreng Hong, Deputy Governor of Koh Kong Province, and the Ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung.

This declaration marks the second district to be cleared of landmines under the grant assistance provided by India, following the earlier declaration of Botum Sakor District. The assistance was announced during the visit of the Vice President of India to Cambodia in 2022 and includes support for mine clearance in Botum Sakor, Srae Ambel, and Thma Bang Districts, as well as Trapeang Rung Commune.
