Declaration of Botum-Sakor district as Min-free (29 April 2025)

Ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, Ambassador of India to Cambodia, joined senior Cambodian officials, including H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice-President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), to mark the official declaration of Botum Sakor District in Koh Kong Province as mine-free. In his remarks, Ambassador Bawitlung congratulated CMAA, the National Center for Peacekeeping Forces Mine and ERW Clearance (NPMEC), and all stakeholders for their tireless efforts in achieving this important milestone. He noted that the successful clearance of Botum Sakor is part of a broader India-funded initiative announced during the 2022 visit of India’s Vice President to Cambodia, which committed support for mine clearance in three districts—Botum Sakor, Srae Ambel, Thma Bang—and Trapeang Rung Commune.
