Celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh

The Embassy of India in Phnom Penh in collaboration with the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, APSARA National Authority and Phnom Penh Capital Administration organized vibrant celebrations of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 at two historically and culturally significant locations in Cambodia — the Terrace of the Elephants in Siem Reap and the Botum Vatey Monastery in Phnom Penh.

The first major event took place on 19 June 2025 at the Terrace of the Elephants, Siem Reap, a heritage site deeply associated with Cambodia’s ancient cultural legacy. The celebration drew enthusiastic participation from more than 600 individuals, including senior dignitaries from various ministries, local yoga enthusiasts and students.

The second and main event was held on 21 June 2025 in front of the iconic Botum Vatey Monastery in Phnom Penh. This gathering saw participation from over 500 yoga enthusiasts, students, members of the Indian diaspora and Cambodian dignitaries. The event was graced by H.E. Mr. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, as Chief Guest.

Both events exemplified the spirit of IDY by promoting physical and mental well-being through yoga, while also strengthening the cultural and people-to-people ties between India and Cambodia. The Embassy expressed its gratitude to the Cambodian government, local authorities, and participants for their support in making the events a grand success.
