Gift of Life

A team led by Ambassador of India had visited India-Cambodia Friendship School in Khum Khanasor, Kampong Cham Province on 31 October 2015.  Medical examination of nearly 250 children was carried out at the school premises and medicines provided to ailing children.

During the medical camp, a 7 year old girl Phin Makara was diagnosed with “Tetralogy of Fallot”, a congenital heart condition involving four abnormalities simultaneously. It included a defective septum between the ventricles and narrowing of the pulmonary artery, accompanied by cyanosis. Indian Embassy and Indian Association Cambodia contacted Rotary Club of Coimbatore for the operation and arranged air tickets, necessary assistance and provided free medical visas.  On 6 June 2016, Ambassador handed over air tickets to the child and her mother.

Ms Phin Makara’s heart operation was successfully conducted by Dr. Mohankrishnan under the program “Gift of Life” at Vellamam Hospital, Madurai.  The child is out of ICU and recovering well from the surgery.
